It’s relationship.
Our initial encounter with Jesus is usually show-stopping, indescribable, powerful…a moment you’ll forever remember for the rest of your life.
The Jesus encounter is not only this: it’s also one that is daily, even hourly sometimes — a continuous intimate connection.
Oftentimes we hear and discuss encountering Jesus as if it were a one time thing… It definitely is, but we don’t always talk about how it’s a continual encountering.
An invitation for Him into all our lives…
An invitation into what He would say about all of it.
What’s His heart, the heart of God on the matter? What would the Bible say about it?
Jesus isn’t just to be encountered at the 4 walls at church on Sunday when we are pretty, and fresh and appearing to have it all together.
We have to know, as believers in Christ, how to enter into His presence in the mundane.
When it’s hard, or boring or monotonous…
Invite Him to do the dishes with you.
Talk to Him about the baby while you change her diapers.
Talk to Him about your boy as you fold his socks.
Invite Him in to your job. What would He do about that tough situation?
Invite Him into your yard work and chores.
Invite Him into the marriage again.
Invite Him into you getting ready to go somewhere.
What would He think about it?
Invite Him into the sports schedule you’re planning at the Rec for your kids.
Invite Him into the bedroom.
To the party.
The gathering you’re having with your forever friends.
Invite Him into your depression.
Into your self-pity.
Into your pit.
Invite Him into those moments that you’ve considered ending it all.
Invite Him. Encounter Him.
He’s already there. He can see already.
Let Him tell you. Let Him teach you. Let Him love you.
He is waiting for you. He’s not far away.
He wants you to invite Him in.
He’s waiting to be encountered by you.
