Stay Close

It’s a new year now, and at the beginning of 2024, unlike years past, I already had my goals set. My vision board established and in its final stages and ready.

What was different this year for me– and more so each year it seems– was that I really needed God directing my goals.

I know, it seems so cliché, but it’s true… hear me out.

Practically, I asked God, ‘What do I do with 2024? What needs doing? What’s your heart for what’s in my hand? What matters for Kingdom, and what really just doesn’t?’

Do you know what the first thing He said was?

He said in my heart, “No matter what way we go with vision, the biggest thing I care about is that I get to stay close to you.”

This is the heart of the Father for you, too, friend.

He doesn’t need your to do list of things trying to meet a list of demands that you believe exists for you to do for Him.

He wants YOU.

Your heart.

Your thoughts.

Your attention.

Your Love.

Your Surrender.

The Father is the Ultimate Family Man who wants good quality time with His kids.

He’s about relationships.

His way is always starting with His, then that unending wholesome love –like oozing purifying salve– bleeds over onto our spouses, then onto our children and our households, then leftovers for others.

The deeper I fall into Jesus’s love, the more I understand that it’s really not about what I want in 2024.

It’s about what He wants, and I honestly mean it when I say that I now want what He wants, more than what I want.

I know that the more and more I commune in intimacy with God, the more that person that I want to emerge, the real me that God created, will do so, effortlessly.

There’s freedom because He is directing, and He is God.

He is love and He loves me.

I am the glove and He is the hand, and as the glove, I’ll get to see some pretty amazing things firsthand, (no pun intended)…but only as I allow Him to stretch me out and onto Him.

Stay close to Him, ya’ll.

It’s getting dark out there.
