I heard in my spirit touring the middle school, ‘Light up the darkness’ as I walked the 6th grade hall.
Don’t hide your light under a bushel Matthew 5, God reminded me.
‘But this is the ever-dreaded middle school…they warn you about this…’ I plead.
‘We need Spirit-filled in the schools,’ God whispered.
We do need Spirit filled in the schools.
Why are the Christians so scared and in hiding?
Jesus told us to go out and make disciples…not dig a bunker and hide out until He comes back…
Why aren’t the Christian families putting their kids out there together, to light up the world the darkness is trying to overwhelm?
Maybe it’s so dark today, because the Christians are hiding under bushels.
It’s harder to un-do, than to prevent.
But in our preventing, are we crippling?
It’s easier to control what they see than to help them learn how to be healed by God and grow stronger IN HIM while they are still young and with us at home…
The tiniest candle can pierce the darkness in a powerful way.
They gotta know they’ll be tempted.
They gotta know there are bullies, and broken kids who need love.
They got know it’s not personal…
They gotta know the real enemy isn’t even them…
They gotta know that life’s not a cake walk following Jesus.
They gotta know that God is bigger.
They gotta know that they too will have to choose on their own.
He’s not the one tempting, because God doesn’t tempt… He’s there giving the way out.
His promise is to never allow a temptation that’s stronger than we can bear without giving us a way out.
Not only is he giving us a way out, he gives us the eyes to see it, the ears to hear Him say it, and the ability to resist it, by choosing Him instead.
Stronger is the One living in us, in our kids, than the enemy of the world, and our kids must know.
They must know the power that comes to lie within them when they call on the name of Jesus.
We mustn’t hide, nor hide them under bushels.
Their little lights are made to pierce the darkness in a powerful way…
Shining bright in the darkness, no matter how small.
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
