I went through a time in life that I woke up in the mornings, mentally putting on my armor before I’d even step out of bed.
Before my feet even hit the floor, I’d pray and think about the armor…
I was so bound by fear and I was still learning who I was as a solider of the Lord’s army, I desperately depended on the armor.
It was what got me out of bed in the morning when all I was able to do within my own strength was stay… each day was so hard.
The helmet of salvation.
The belt of truth.
The shoes of peace.
The breastplate of righteousness.
The sword of the Spirit.
The shield of Faith.
This powerful truth of Gods word got me up. It helped me stand firm.
But now, as God has taught me more and more, I’ve come to realize, and have recently learned…
It’s actually not only about the armor.
Because no matter how well I put that armor on, if I was shaking inside, it was near impossible to wage war. It was not possible to battle.
It’s the solider on the inside that makes the warrior.
This solider of the Lord’s army is strong in the Lord and the power of His might, from the heart outward.
From the love of God that sets his feet firm.
Knowing that because of Jesus, he is right with God.
He is saved from sin forever.
He has the infinite truth at his fingertips and written on his heart.
He has the Spirit that wars and defends.
He has the shoes that take the gospel truth of peace, to walk and spread the good news to others that it’s for freedom that Christ set us free.
Put on the armor, but remember the warrior inside is who God wants to build.
