You’re Not Really A Grasshopper

When God told Moses to send men to spy out the land of Canaan that He was going to give the sons of Israel as the Promised Land, they came back with this report.

There were ‘giants in the land’, and they viewed themselves as grasshoppers compared… so the Nephilim viewed them that way too.

How do you view yourself?

It seems in my life I’ve grown up hearing other Christians proclaim this characteristic of weakness; almost as a trophy, a badge of honor.

“Suffering for the cause of Christ,” taken out of context… as if what Jesus did on the cross didn’t finish something, was incomplete somehow, and now God’s called you to suffer and toil as a child of His…

And I used to believe this religious doctrine of the devil.

I just no longer get it.

What’s actually happening, is by proclaiming your abounding weakness, you’re discrediting not only the power of the Holy Spirit inside you that is able, but you’re missing the second half, or the other side of Grace. The grace that makes you strong in the Lord and the power of HIS might. That is what is equipping people to do what God has called them to.

Gods not called you to suffer, however, He promises trouble…trouble from our own wrong choices, and sins of others…there is a big difference.

He will always end up using what results for us from the fallen world, consequences of sinful actions of others, and use that for our good, as we are seeking Him and walking after Him.

He doesn’t need you to suffer for Him, that’s what Jesus came to do and did perfectly and completely.

You just need to get out of your own way.

Get your soul and your mind and will and emotions renewed to this truth.

Yes, in and of our own strength, will, and power, our own carnality and flesh, we can do nothing.

Nothing.

But, we can do all things through Christ in us, who strengthens, energizes, restores and equips us.

In our weakness, God’s power is made perfect.

We must take our eyes off of our weaknesses, and put them on the One who is greater.

You’re made new now, you are a brand new creature in Christ at the exact moment of salvation.

Proclaim weakness and acknowledge how God is Holy and Powerful and Almighty and emphasize that we aren’t God… because we aren’t.

But we need to also acknowledge and proclaim the other portion of the scriptures, that IN CHRIST we are not just weak.

Scriptures tell us that IN HIM, we are more than conquerors, strong in the Lord and the power of His might, that we are equipped to withstand the already won battle with our non-carnal weapons (Ephesians 1,6) because of JESUS.

We have the God power He’s given us to overcome the deception of the enemy that tries to stop us.

To overcome the obstacles, the giants in the land, by the blood of the lamb, and the Word of our testimony.

Human frailty and weakness can no longer be an excuse to sit on the sidelines when God’s given you an assignment.

Suit up and step out.

He will knock your weak socks off, revealing bigger than you could ever ask think or imagine.

He’ll meet you there, He’s not failed any of us yet.
