Take it from me.
Don’t do what I did, and put Jesus in the back.
Jesus loves me, this I know.
I really, really know He loves me.
He loves me so much, that He let’s me choose, even down to asking Him to sit in the back seat for a bit.
I can choose my focus, He insists that I do.
Because we know that He will always be God, and He will always forgive us when we make messes.
So we ask Him to sit in the back for a bit.
Just until I get through this season of toddlers.
Just until the finances are right.
Just until I retire and have more time to study.
Just until I get my teenagers out of the house and off to college.
Just until soccer season is over.
Just until I get married and settled.
Just until I get back from vacation.
Just until I get done with my degree.
How long am I going to ask God to ride around in my back seat?
Who or what is in my front seat as I drive, captivating my attention?
Distracting my desires?
Screaming in my mind?
I know you see Him, too…out of the corner of your eye when you’re driving, ‘taking care’ to your front seat passenger…
your current ‘just until…’
Just like I did.
Can I suggest something to you?
Pull over.
Right now.
Don’t go another block until He’s not only out of the back seat, but until He’s driving.
He’s the one that knows your hopeful and prosperous way.
Buckle up, kick back, keep your eyes on Him as He drives. Enjoy the scenery, the new places you’ve never imagined you’d see.
Surrender the GPS.
And when you get to your place called there, boldly, and confidently step out and walk into His Way He has just for you…
