What is a spirit of rejection?
It’s a core belief you have that tells you in almost every situation that you encounter, that you’re not invited; that you’re not wanted.
It usually comes from something that happened in childhood, we either were actually told that we weren’t wanted by someone we loved and needed love in return, or no matter what we did in life was ever enough to satisfy them, it seemed.
There is also the fact that we possibly only perceived that we weren’t wanted…when really that wasn’t the case, our brains are just automatically so ingrained, so used to thinking that way, that strongholds develop without a real offense.
When things are repeated in our mind, thoughts, behaviors, patterns…Brain pathways form requiring no effort to think that way, it just naturally takes that path.. like water flowing down the path of least resistance…
So the spirit of rejection starts to talk…
The spirit of rejection will tell you that they don’t like you and they won’t ever like you.
The spirit of rejection will tell you that you don’t even need to try.
The spirit of rejection will tell you that they are just like the others, once they get to know the real you, they will not want to anymore.
The rejection filter sees things like correction as painful, no matter how lovingly it was relayed, because you poked at an open, oozing, already bleeding wound that screams at them already everyday that they’ll never find a place to belong.
The worst thing about this spirit, this mindset, is that the majority of the time, it’s perceived… it’s not even truth.
When this mindset dominates, everything encountered is filtered through that rejected belief.
Everything feels and seems like rejection, despite the reality because that’s your heart’s filter.
This can happen in church hurts. Sometimes churches hurt real hurt, really deep. Sometimes real things happen that are really wrong and earth shattering.
Sometimes nothing ever even happened, we just thought we saw or thought we knew… we did no fact checking. We did not have conversations to resolve the issues. We just ran.
Sometimes when this happens, it creates a rejection mindset in us, that the enemy uses to keep us isolated from the flock.
Sometimes he will use this thing that happened to replay in our mind so that when we want to try church again, we think why bother… I don’t want to go through that again.
He has us perceiving that some type of rejection will happen before we even step out.
We will think we don’t belong.
That we don’t need church.
An offended man is harder to get to than a walled city…“A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, And contentions are like the bars of a castle.”
Proverbs 18:19 NKJV

God wants us to learn to get along with one another. He wants us to know that we can overlook an offense and operate in His Spirit, not our flesh.
He wants us to know that He will avenge, that He will repay what needs paying.
“that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.”
I Thessalonians 4:6 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/1th.4.6.NKJV
He wants us to know that He sees all and He knows all and we don’t.
He wants us to know that just as much as He is long suffering with you, so is He toward them.
He wants you to know how all of us will be accountable for what we did with life, in life… the mess ups, the really huge mess ups, as believers in Christ, even those will be covered by the blood of Jesus.
God wants to heal that oozing spot. The one that hurts all the time and makes you feel run down.
One touch from the Holy Spirit and that wound will be made new, from the inside out.
If you notice these things as patterns in life, if you notice that this really touches your heart and tugs at you, all you have to do is sit down with God, and ask Him to show you where this root of rejection comes from, and invite Jesus into that memory to dig it up forever.
What does God’s Word say about that matter? What would Jesus have said to someone in the New Testament with the similar story as you, instead? What would He have done differently? That’s what He really wanted to happen, not what did.
Pray this out loud…
“We break agreement with the spirit of rejection, and we receive the Spirit of Adoption, through the Holy Spirit. We receive and believe that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a peculiar people. We receive that we are accepted in the beloved, we are chosen by His hand before the foundation of the world. Nothing we did earned it. He chose us, in Jesus’ name, amen.”
Replace those thoughts of rejection with Bible verses, truths of God’s unending love for you.
Let Jehovah Rapha heal not just your body, but your soul. Let Him adjust your heart filter so you can see clearly and grow with God.
God wants to heal that sore…
Will you let Him?
