As springtime approaches, I notice the flowers in my front flower bed begin to bloom, and start rising up from the ground. An empty ground… of just mulch, old weeds, and dirt where there was nothing before. First you see the tiny leaves, pushing themselves through the mulch, no help needed from me. Then you notice the buds opening, and so on…
What you can’t see is that bulb underground. You don’t know how it’s going to produce, or when even. You can’t see it’s roots deepening and taking form, or see if it’s ready to sprout… but you know it will, because that’s what bulbs do. That’s their nature, they are planted and they grow.
This reminds me of the Word of God.
The Bible tells us that it works as a seed.
When you read the Word of God, when you believe it, when you receive it as yours, personally, and apply it to you and your life today, it gets planted in your heart.
Not only that, but just like that bulb in my flower bed, the Word produces, all on its own, and nothing can replicate what it does to transform us.
The Word works.
The Word breaks off chains, it heals our hearts, and our minds, and our bodies.
It sparks fire in our souls for the things of God. The Word is truth, and it sets us free.
So keep planting God’s word in your heart with me, keep pursuing the things of God.
This will not only produce a harvest…God’s abundance will overtake you, more than you could ever ask, think or imagine.
“Jesus also said, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens. And as soon as the grain is ready, the farmer comes and harvests it with a sickle, for the harvest time has come.””
