God’s Protection

The protection of God that the Bible talks about has been on my heart so much lately.

For a lot of different reasons, I’ve been meditating on God’s word, what He has to say, especially about His protection over our children.

Our children that visit with others, as they go to school, who are their friends, what are they being exposed to, are we getting it right, are we hearing God correctly on His Will for their way, are we training them up…so many temptations to take our eyes off the promises of God.

So many temptations to say, “am I,” instead of “God is…”

These are a few truths of God’s Word that I pray bring you as much peace as they bring me…knowing that before our kids are ours, they are His.

Psalm 116:6 – “The Lord protects the simplehearted; when I was in great need, He saved me.”

What better word is there to describe our children, especially the little ones. When they aren’t with us, our awareness of the scary of the world around us seems to heighten, and tempt us to worry about them.

Michael J. Klassen and Thomas Freiling say it so well in their book, “Battle Prayers”: “Father God, just as you kept Joseph safe in prison, baby Moses safe in a basket floating in the Nile, David safe from Goliath, and baby Jesus safe from Herod, I place my trust in you to keep my children safe.”

Imagine being mama to baby Moses. What trust she demonstrates in God with her actions, what bravery.

And what about Jesus being kept safe from Herod? Joseph had to hear, trust and obey the angel of God, and Mary had to cooperate and trust what Joseph believed and saw and told her needed to be done.

Psalm 91(entire chapter)

Because you, mama, have made the Lord your dwelling place, because under His wings you find refuge, His faithfulness is a shield and a wall; He commands His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

And your children are covered with you in this place. Declare that.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 : “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” We teach our children about God. We teach them His goodness and His love. This is planting seeds of life in their hearts, we just continue to sow, and sow, and sow.

Mamas, we must know, and continually look at the nature of who God is.

Do we know that He wants good for us, or do we think He punishes, therefore will punish our children?

What about the entire book of Exodus and the deliverance of Israel?

Do we see this compassion and love compelled by His hearing the Israelites’ cry for help, and how He perfectly delivered them out?

Can we see how He blessed them with the spoils from Egypt, He destroyed their oppressors with the Red Sea, and they NEVER had to worry about Pharaoh coming after them again? He provides and provides, it goes on and on, the same He does for our children.

God is still the same.

The same yesterday, today and forever.

He does not change.

We just have to keep our faith in Him.

We keep trusting Him, and He keeps us in perfect peace while our minds are stayed upon Him.

Keep your mind on the promises of His word, reading them, believing they are for you and your family.

Receive them and pray them over your babies and trust God, mamas.

Trust Him.

He is trustworthy.

He will NOT fail.
