Stanley Mugs, All Stars and Sippy Cups

Any mamas out there that have children in all different stages of development?

I’m not a mama that stair-stepped my babies…

Clint and I have a preteen, a prepubescent elementary schooler, and a preschooler.

Stanley mugs, all stars and sippy cups, each one vital, each one precious, each one so much fun.

But it does get tricky sometimes.

The balance of time and money; the physical, mental, and emotional energy it takes to train up each on as they meet their milestones to move onto the next— all at the same time.

The balance of theatre practice, football, and toilet training.

The balance of sleepy mornings, late nights, and early risers.

I can’t help but think and ask through labored breaths, “it’s getting intense over here, Lord.

Am I doing enough?

Am I dividing my time equally with all three?

Am I missing any non-verbal expressions or down casts faces in the juggling of it all?”

And His still small voice calms the thunderstorm in my mind yet again…

He reminds me that psalms 139 is not just for me, it’s also for them.

He reminds me just like Esther, He created them for such a time as this…

He knew there would be gaps between their years…

His sweet, pure, perfect love in voice form brings it all to complete peace as He says, “They are mine first.”

So I breathe. I rest. I savor. I laugh. I take in the snuggles and cuddles, the line-backer squeeze hugs, the preteen couch time… and I cover them in His promises.

This IS the enough.
