One of the most profound revelations I’ve ever received from God’s Word, one of the biggest truths that has forever changed my life and how I see and read scripture is what we know as spirit, soul and body.

Hebrews 4:12- “For the word of God is living and active and full of power. It is sharper than any two edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit, and of both joints and marrow, exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

We must understand this truth, in order for things to flow in our lives the way God intends.

We have to understand that when we are saved, it’s our spirit that is born again.

Our spirit was dead, separated from God because of the sin of one man, Adam, from the time we were born.

Like Nicodemus clarified with Jesus, it’s not like we are literally born again from the womb… we go from death to life in our spirit man— although we can’t physically see any changes to our looks or to our feelings.

When we receive Jesus, our sin nature, is gone, buried, and our spirit is made new. This new man, the new nature of Christ, is what we are to “put on,” or also what we are instructed in the word to ‘renew our minds’ in.

Our natural body is unchanged, and remains unchanged until we decide to do something about it.

We don’t drop the 20 extra pounds, lose the wrinkles or the gray hairs when God transforms our life, our spirit man. That’s on us.

It’s the same way with the soul.

The soul is the memory file of our lives, the data bank, the hard drive— this contains the mind, will and the emotions.

The soul is our being that we can’t see.

Our experiences, our lifelong journey of learning, emotions, our childhood, everything we know and believe, what we have been taught, our feelings, our personality…

When we receive Jesus, He doesn’t wipe our memory and download the word of God into our minds or heart so that we know it… no. We have to study and show ourselves approved… (2 Timothy 2:15) study with the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit who now resides within us, who never leaves or forsakes us, is the one who leads and guides us into all truth and understanding and revelation of the hidden mysteries.

He’s the one that can teach us His word, He’s the one that can help us understand spiritual truths and equips us to do things we never could do on our own.

Our soul is the memory bank… it remembers good and bad, hurts and traumas, and if left unrenewed, unhealed, it can become the devil’s playground.

This is the only way the enemy can do his deceiving.

The only way the enemy can steal, kill and destroy from us once we receive Jesus is by deception.

Recognize this soul part…there’s typically so much healing and renewal that God wants to do in your soul.

The perfect spirit of God lives inside of you, and it has power and authority and fully equips you with everything you need to walk out your walk with Jesus.

God is spirit, and because we are created in the image of God, Genesis 3, so are we.

He made completely new your spirit.

Allow the word of God to wash, clean and heal your soul.

I pray for each person who reads this, that they would have eyes to see and ears to hear the voice of God, the whispers of the Spirit. I pray for the spiritual understanding to be enlightened, and for supernatural revelation to come to life by the power of the Holy Spirit in their hearts… in Jesus’ name.
