‘It’s what my Dad would have done…’
I heard this line in a movie once, and God dropped this in my heart, and it spills out of my fingers tonight.
Have you ever heard anyone say this in a movie or in real life like, ‘I did this amazing thing in honor of my dad, ‘its what he would have done…’?’
I am fortunate to have a wonderful earthly daddy; one who loved me and cared for me no matter what kind of junk I tried to start.
But what about those that didn’t have that example?
How do we get to see what our dad’s would have done, or should have done?
Because maybe your dad left.
He may have been around physically or maybe he was emotionally absent.
Your dad may have passed away when you were little.
He may be around but parenting other kids, another family instead of yours.
You may have had a dad that fought, beat or cursed.
Your dad may have been one that drank too much or you may have felt afraid of him.
You may be grown now, and not exactly sure what that dad position should look like…
You know everything that a dad shouldn’t be, but what should a dad look like?
How should he act?
There’s a Holy Bible that tells a story of a perfect Father.
And if you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, then all these beautiful truths apply to you.
You have a Perfect Father who is The Ultimate Example.
A Holy Spirit inside you who wants to and will lead you into all His truth.
God is good. He is kind. He is patient. He is long suffering. He’s slow to anger. He does not boast, and He’s not proud.
He is love.
No matter how negative of an upbringing, no matter how bad it was for you, you have a Father who will show you how to be good, despite the odds against. You can change the trajectory for your family.
You are a child of God.
You have a Daddy.
And by the powerful grace of God, you’re freely given an example to know, to do, and to say, ‘that’s what my Dad would have done.’

“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.”
