The Gospel: God Sent Jesus

Once upon a time, before there was ever a thing known as time, nothing existed except God. This God created a man and a woman, named Adam and Eve, and their choices to believe wrongly about God, exposed and allowed something we name as sin to enter and resulted in the separation of themselves from God in Genesis.

Things went downhill pretty fast, as sin always tends to take us, and the people of Adam and Eve, God’s people, found themselves in need of a Savior. In order for God to reunite His people to Himself, He decided to send Jesus Christ, His perfect Son, fully God and fully Man as our Savior, our perfect sacrifice and atonement for all the past, present and future sins of every person in the world to handle the corruption that had taken over.

Jesus came and walked the streets of Nazareth and Capernaum; walked on water on the Sea of Galilee; He healed a man laying by a pool at Bethesda; He opened blinded eyes, and set souls free who were held captive by the devil by oppression.

Jesus never turned anyone away who came to Him in scripture, He was pure Love made manifest, and He came and dwelt among us.

Jesus walked and ministered and taught us how the Kingdom of God has come, and what that looked like now, He taught us how to walk it out perfectly and how it was very different than anything that was known before.

It was new and not what the religious leaders and priests knew, so they accused Him as a false prophet, of being blasphemous, and Jesus, the living breathing Son of Man was lied about, manipulated, schemed against, and He willingly went to a sentencing that was unfair, wrong, not saying a word.

The leaders of the group decided that Jesus would be crucified, meaning He would be beaten, spit upon, kicked, mocked, his beard ripped off of His face, a crown of thorns placed upon His head slicing the flesh of His face in mockery. They scourged Him with a long leather whip, interlaced with pieces of sharp metal, glass, sharp broken rocks, and at the end there was a scourge, a big hook. They would take this whip and beat his back, tearing His body, his flesh, down to the muscle and fascia, just to the point where He almost would die, and then they would stop. They knew when to stop. The goal was not to kill Him at that time, but for Him to suffer. The scriptures say He was so mangled, He didn’t look like a man after this, that He was barely recognized.

He then, following this beating, carried His own cross up to Golgotha Hill, where He would be nailed to the cross and hung up for all to see. He hung there, until He knew the work was finished. The bible says He gave up His last breath, He gave up His Spirit, when IT WAS FINISHED.

Jesus was buried in Joseph’s tomb, and God sent the Holy Spirit to raise Jesus from the dead on the third day, and Jesus now lives at the right hand of the Father, seated as King of Kings. He sits there and has completely defeated death, He defeated the devil’s reign over people through sin, He defeated the chasm that separated us from God. Jesus brought us back into the presence of God, back into unity with the Father, and He sits there continually interceding for us on our behalf.

Jesus died on the cross, 2,000 years ago with your face in mind.

As he hung on the cross, He took all the past, present, and future sins of the world onto Himself, He took all the sickness, the cancers, the heart problems, the lung disease, the gut issues, the genetic disorders, the blindness, the deafness, the congenital defects, the brain disorders, the mental illness, the abuse from your family, depression, anxiety, fear, torment, suicidal thoughts, self-hatred, self-mutilation, lies we believe about ourselves…He took it all upon Himself, ON THE CROSS. HE paid the debt. His love for you, kept Him on the cross. He tells us that He could have summoned legions of angels to get Him off, but He didn’t. He chose the cross, and He didn’t stop until the work was done, when it was final and complete.

Jesus paid it all, He completely finished it all, and He did it for you, because He loves you, and God wants you to be a part of His family. Be re-united with Him, your Maker, The Maker of Heaven and Earth, and you.

Come to Jesus and let Him heal you.

Let Him love you.

Receive that He already made the payment for all of your sin on the cross 2,000 years ago, receive what Jesus did for you. Let Him carry your burdens, let Him lead your life. Surrender yourself to His Love, His embrace, and submit yourself to Him as not just your Savior, but your LORD. Let Him Lord your life for now until forever, you’ll never regret it.

God is the missing piece that you’ve been looking for.

God is what is missing- it’s Him that is to sufficiently fill the gaping hole in your soul.

You were made to know Him, and until you do, you’ll never feel complete.

This is the simple Gospel.

A perfect God, a perfect Jesus, who died the perfect death fully in control on purpose by His very own plan and choice. To pay for your sin, your sufferings in this life, and to defeat death forever in your life. He has so much He wants to show you, if you’ll just step into it.

Choose Him today.

You were placed in this part of history on purpose, by a God who intentionally knit you together inside your mother’s womb knowing and developing your innermost parts, your likes and dislikes and creating you to know Him, and be known by Him, from His good pleasure toward you, from His love and adoration of you, creating you because He chooses to, because He decided that this world isn’t what He needs it to be without you in it, without you here.

If you’ve never received Jesus as your Lord, as your Savior, you can pray and do this right now, as you sit curled up with this post. If your heart is pounding, if you’re choking back the lump in your throat, if your reading this through tears, that IS the Holy Spirit calling you to receive Jesus right now. Right now. Pray this, talk to God if you mean it. Pray this out loud:

Dear Father,

I recognize that I am separated from You, God who created me because of my sin. I recognize that I am a sinner, and I need your forgiveness. I turn from those sins in my life right now Jesus; I turn from everything I depended on in the world to keep me safe, protected, nourished, provided for, and I turn to You. I tell you with finality that I do not want to continue doing these things that separate me from God. I ask you God to save me, to help me, turn from the ways I’ve been going, and I ask Jesus to become the Lord of my life. I turn to face you Jesus, and I receive your forgiveness, your healing, your peace. Fill in all the places that sin has now been eradicated in me, Holy Spirit, and make me whole. Show me who You are, and show me who I really am now because of Jesus. Thank you, God for saving me today. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.
