I am a Christian, Now What?

Well firstly, there is NOTHING more you do. You are home now. You rest, you recover, you heal, you grow in knowledge and truth, you read God’s word, and you let His peace rule in your heart.

There is not another list of things you that you need to do to stay saved, you were saved by grace, (nothing you did on your own, only what Jesus did for you), through faith (simply trusting that everything the Bible says is not only true, but true and real and tangible for you).

But as you start going to church and learning about who you are now in Christ, you may have some foundational repairs to make. There may be things you believe strongly that are not actually in the Bible, and things you do not believe that actually are in the Bible. It’s time now to Rebuild with Jesus. (COMING SOON).

Take everything you thought you knew, and bring it to the feet of Jesus, remembering to always filter everything you read and are taught and everything new you learn through the goodness and love of God.

These categories are so important, to go through, to read God’s word and know them. Ask yourself, why do you believe what you believe? Where’s your proof? Can you show someone in the Bible where it says what you believe?

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Also known and described by other denominations and groups as the full surrender of your whole self to the Holy Spirit, Baptism of the Holy Ghost, the process of sanctification, and making Jesus the Lord of your life.

The Cross

There is so much that happened on the cross. Jesus’ crucifixion, death, and resurrection was the finality, and the beginning of freedom and life from sin and death for you and me. It really is finished, my mama friend.

The Bible

The bible has an answer to every single problem in your life. A solution to everything; from suicidal thoughts, to how to know who you should marry; how to make friends, to understanding and knowing what perfect love is; how to raise your children, to how to be the wife God designed you to be.

The Bible lacks nothing, it is written in perfection, and it will never change, it will never age out, and it will never fade.

You must believe this. Believe it by faith. I promise you, this word of God cannot fail you, if you truly believe.

What is your measure of right and wrong, good or bad? 

I know for me, I would consult my best friend, my mom or dad, my sisters, my in-laws, my experiences, others’ experiences, the path of history… 

A note on the occult…

If you are a Christian and you are practicing these things, I strongly, lovingly, and boldly caution you to stop right now, and change your mind about it— repent my beautiful and dear friend. Run back to Jesus, ask Him to forgive and cleanse your heart. He will, He promises. He is the only one who knows the end of our lives from the beginning. When it comes to worldview, how do you decide what is truth? What builds your belief system? Is it the current trend? Is it the latest fad or the greatest celebrity’s recommendation?

Come on, ya’ll. 

What is solid in life? What is worth standing on? What doesn’t change? What means something to you? What is bigger than you? What cause is greater than just little old you? 

What is the foundation of your belief system built upon? Grandma’s preacher’s doctrine, turn or burn? ‘This is the way our family always did it?’ This is what my parents taught me? These are our family traditions… why? Do we still find meaning and value and purpose in those things? Is Jesus Christ crucified the center of it? Is it built upon Him?

Everyone must find out for themselves the answers to these questions, and eventually, every single one of us will answer them…whether we answer them when we are little growing up under our parents and they teach us, whether its when we go off on our own to college and learn that way, or whether its when we hit that middle of life crisis that we cannot quite pull ourselves out of, or when we are on our deathbed… everyone of us will face the reality of this question, ‘why are you here?’ ‘Where or Who did you come from?’ ‘Where are you going when you die?’ And ‘how do you really know what’s truth?’

We all have a belief system, we all have things we strongly believe that make us up, but do they line up with what God says?

Every belief in your heart that is contrary to the word of God, the truth of God and what He says, must be confronted and dethroned.

We must have no other gods before Him.
