Line Upon Line Precept Upon Precept

“But the word of the Lord was to them, “Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little,” That they might go and fall backward, and be broken And snared and caught.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭28‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The concept here is judgement on Israel for giving themselves over to things other than God, ‘here a little, there a little, rule upon rule, rule upon rule, line upon line, precept upon precept.’

That’s how the enemy works. Just a little twist of the scripture here. Just a little lie there, over and over and over again until our hearts are calloused to what once was loud and true from the voice and word of God.

We can think about how the enemy of this world works by going back to the beginning of time, in the garden of Eden.

He did not straight out hiss at Eve that he wanted to steal everything God had for them… no.

He simply asked her a seemingly innocent question… “did God indeed say?” (Genesis 3:1, emphasis mine)

It’s like the making of a candle.

It’s like the rising of the sun.

Our entrance into bondage and satan’s traps were slow and subtle, one lie believed at a time, until God’s loud, precious still small voice could no longer be heard or understood at all through the callouses… the choices we made, to believe what we believe.

In the very same way that we can get subtly shifted into darkness and hardness, we can just as easily run back to His Word and ‘un-learn’ the devil’s lies, to learn, or sometimes relearn or remind ourselves what we once knew to be His truths.

The truths of God follow the same principle of making that candle… dip after dip, after dip… learning and solidifiying slowly, repetitively, little by little, time after time, reading them over and over, saying them, declaring them these same ways.

You can also think about a new seed that was planted and sprouted a tiny little sprout. That new little plant needs protection and lots and lots of water until it establishes a good root system to sustain itself… so are the truths of God. You plant the seed of God’s truth in your heart, and you have to protect it, standing guard for some time until it roots itself in. I talk about this much more in Heart Ground, and you can access that (COMING SOON).

We must understand this principle to grasp how things work in the kingdom, how to guard our newly learned truths from getting snatched, stolen, or destroyed completely.

If we do not understand or believe to be true what happens at salvation, or that God actually is love, we have a harder time understanding grace, and liberty and peace. We have to understand to believe, even if only by that measure of faith in our spirit.

Understanding and Knowing, there is a Difference

Understanding is involving the information, knowing comes from God’s revelation.

Understanding comes from teaching, introduction of the concepts, literally creating new synapses and physical brain structures.

Knowing comes from Him. From His Holy Spirit. From time with Him, from relationship. In the still small spaces of the world where we dedicate to Him our time.

That place where God etches the power and truth into the walls of your new heart of flesh.

That “knowing in your knower” (Greg Mohr) that can never be taken.

We learn to understand, we understand to believe, and that believing turns to a knowing, and when we agree with scripture down to our deepest parts, we form a belief system by the Holy Spirit’s power. That truth will root out, grow up and produce effortlessly into fruit in our physical life, fruit of true heart change, fruit for others to taste and see that He is good.

Understanding doesn’t change you- believing, and knowing does.

Understanding and believing are both choices. You can choose to understand, and refuse to understand.

You can choose to believe and refuse to believe whatever you want in this life.

My plea is that you’d choose to believe Him, and His Word, and the words of His Son Jesus.

I emplore you believer, it’s time to believe.
