Where are you?

Why did God ask Adam where he was after Adam and Eve ate the fruit?

“Where are you?” God asked.

“I was afraid because I was naked and I hid myself…” Adam answered.

(Genesis 3)

Could it be that God sensed their distance at their time to walk through the garden together?

That He felt the separation?

I can’t help but think the same thing happens with us…

When we stray away from Him in our daily lives, when we don’t show up to the couch at 5am with coffee to talk, to hear Him, to share all the things, that He might be asking “where are you?”

Not as if He lacks the knowledge, because He doesn’t.

Only as if He misses the visit, He misses our talks.

And where are we? Why don’t we show up? Are we hiding? Hiding the junk as if God doesn’t already know and see? Are we convinced that we are naked, and should hide in shame and guilt from God our Creator?

God doesn’t leave us, ever. He’s everywhere, all the time, at the same time, for everyone. When we choose something over Him, He still waits there. He still remembers what you last talked about, asked about, what your heart needs before you even ask, and He’s ready to pick up where you last left off…

Can you hear His voice asking in your heart, “where are you? Wanna talk?”
