Safety

On a football team on the defensive side of the ball, there is a position known as safety.

During a game this person watches the offensive strategy, particularly the QB, and watches his eyes to determine what his play will be- whether he will throw it, hand it off to the running back, or run it.

The role of the safety is to watch where the ball is going, and goal to intercept, or pick the pass.

The offense always has a play.

It’s been determined, written up, and is set into motion: down, set, hut-hut.

In the life of the Christian, there is an intense pressing of the enemy to shake you up and gain ground on your God plans— especially when you’re just on the cusp of breakthrough…just as your stepping into the offensive stance.

An intensity that truly requires a strong defensive stance.

Brace for impact.

Plant those cleats down into the ground under you and hold the line.

Not to advance, to just keep them from advancing.

The Christian life is sometimes about just holding firm not letting them gain one yard…

Just like this concept, God acts as the safety in the life of the Christian.

God knows where all the passes are going—He’s watching the eyes of the enemy.

He sees where the play is going and He will intercept.

He will step into the blind spot when we cannot see, He will not let us be overcome beyond what we can bear without giving us a way out.

Because God is in charge, believer. He is not controlling you, but He’s in charge.

God will function in this capacity for you.

He is not overpowered, overtaken or overthrown; He is not even disadvantaged.

He is our Safety.
