Healer

Why do we try so hard to deny that God wants to heal?

I think for me, I didn’t believe it because I had this “safe place”- a category for things I didn’t understand, things that didn’t work right in my life and experiences. Things that I saw in real life that I couldn’t explain.

Things like watching my sister die.

This safe place I would call “God’s Will.”

I’d reason it this way…

“It must not have been God’s Will for her to live.”

“It must have been God’s Will for that tragedy…”

The devil is a liar.

Let me be frank.

I’m not saying that no one will or should ever die. That would be ridiculous.

I’m saying that God said in His word that with long life He would satisfy us. (Psalm 91:16)

Hebrews also says that it is appointed unto man once to die. (Hebrews 9:27)

I believe He’s saying yes, we will all die- but He’s not planning or authoring tragedy, despair, killing, or destroying us out of this for such a time as this He positioned us in. (John 10:10)

His plan for you is hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 is not just for a cute tshirt or car decal. It’s a powerful truth that was meant to transform us.

The key is, are we willing to submit our own freewill, to His best one…

God is ALWAYS right, and I am not.

I didn’t understand that not only is Gods Will His Word, but also that GODs EAGER for us to know it. To KNOW His will. (Ephesians 5:15-20, especially verse 17).

And I didn’t really know the Word because my eyes and ears were dulled by religion. Dulled by my denomination, by what other people said and thought and taught.

And I definitely didn’t think that God wanted to reveal His will for my life here, in this life.

It’s not easy to swallow my pride to realize I had missed an important truth.

The Bible says that it’s the Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Luke 2:42)

Why is that so hard for us to believe in our hearts?

Driving down the road today, this dawned on me.

We as parents would literally take, if possible, the sickness that ever tried to come to our children, onto ourselves.

Every single one of us would. We say we would, we proclaim we would, we know we would.

If we would do that for our children, what do you think God is willing to do for you?

The only one who even remotely has the ability to do this is God.

The only One who HAS done this is God.

God so loved you, that He sent His only son, to bear stripes on His back so that you were healed, 2,000 years ago. (Isaiah 53:5)

Did you know He’s already done it? He took it (the judgement of sin) all onto His only son Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, at Calvary.

He put our sickness, our emotional hurts and wounds and ALL THE THINGS we struggle with- the pains of our lives- onto Jesus who finished it perfectly.

He doesn’t need us to suffer, Jesus took care of all of that. But we do, because we refuse Him. We reap our own sowing, and we reap sowing of others… sin causes suffering. Not God.

Jesus tells us about this part of God’s nature in Matthew 7:8-12…

“8 For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will [instead] give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will [instead] give him a snake?11 If you then, evil (sinful by nature) as you are, know how to give good andadvantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give what is good and advantageous to those who keep on asking Him.”

How much more will YOUR Father in heaven give YOU good things, as you keep on asking Him?

That is all.
