Pentecost Sunday is tomorrow and for some reason this year I haven’t been able to get this off my mind since Easter.
This fact that Jesus rose from the grave on Easter Sunday just 50 short days ago…
That He kept showing up to make His appearance to so many…
They saw Him die, give up His spirit and get sealed in that tomb…
He showed Himself resurrected to Mary Magdalene….
To the two on the road to Emmaus, walking with them for several miles….
To the disciples minus Thomas…
Then again to them all specifically for Thomas…
To his brother James…
To seven of the disciples fishing.
To 500 people at once.
He talked to them, proved Himself alive to them.
He ate in front of them and with them.
He commissioned them and told them what to do, to keep going. He told them about the Holy Spirit Who was coming.
And they saw Him ascend to the right hand of the Father.
Just like that He was gone from them.
But it was not over.
It was just the very beginning.
I used to believe that the Holy Spirit coming and falling in Acts 2 had nothing to do with me…
Until the Holy Spirit fell on me.
The Holy Spirit picked me up and healed me, delivered me, and set me free from religion, depression, self hatred and a thousand things more… and I was sitting saved and safe on the pews every Sunday, or so I thought.
You can be sitting in church every single Sunday and be bound, sick, and not free, but on your way to heaven.
You’ll make it there, by confessing and believing.
That’s just not the full kingdom living Jesus died for.
You can never get Kingdom living without the Holy Spirit’s power.
Anyone who tells you differently hasn’t let themselves need Him in that capacity nor have they experienced Him in that capacity… yet.
Pentecost Sunday is about the birth of the church. The arrival of the Holy Ghost. The sending out of the good news.
That’s you and me. Not just Peter and James and everyone in that upper room.
The Holy Spirit is the equipment to walk the journey that God made you for— ministry in the fivefold or ministry in the marketplace.
He is the empowerment to believe Love and allow fear to be cast out.
He is the Teacher to reveal the scriptures.
He is the Joy that is your new strength.
He is the Light in the trenches.
He is the power to get your character in shape, to step into holiness.
He is the strength to crucify the flesh.
He is the author, He is the fire, He is the drive, the energy when we get weak.
He calls you to do it, yet it is only He that gets you in shape to do it.
The world is experiencing Him in ways like I’ve never seen… and it’s just the beginning.
If you’ve not surrendered your life, your person, and everything you are to the Holy Spirit for Him to weigh in and be apart of, He’s inviting you right now.
Make Jesus your Lord, not just your Savior only… and let the Holy Spirit point to what Jesus wants to do in every area of your life.
It’s not about weirdness. Just ignore those.
It’s not only about praying in the spirit and the gifts of the spirit.
It’s just as much about the fruit and how straight you walk when your feet hit the ground.
The Holy Spirit wants to baptize you in His peace.
Thank you God for Jesus.
