From Mountains to Trees

With faith as small as a mustard seed, you can move mountains. (Matthew 17:20-21)

Jentzen Franklin, our pastor, referenced the planting a mustard seed of faith into the mountains we find standing before us, blocking us, in his book on Fasting.

His statement about this produced a word picture in my brain, and God taught me this really cool thing, and I’d like to share.

You know how the mustard seed grows into a huge tree…

Well, like Jentezen said, and I paraphrase… “you take that tiny little mustard seed and plant it into that mountain and watch the mountain crumble…”

The mountain that the Bible says we can speak to and say ‘be thou cast into the sea,’ is replaced by the mustard tree from the mustard seed we planted with our words of Faith spoken to it.

Satan will work throughout your life to keep you under that mountain.

He works so diligently, subtly… scooping dirt pile after dirt pile, on top of your purpose… piling it on, it keeps getting higher and higher… one scoop at a time.

With the goal to crush that dream God gave you.

To crush that predestined purpose God created you for before the foundation of the world.

To simply crush you.

To keep you from sitting up- from looking up.

To keep you so busy and heavy you’ve no energy to notice what’s the pile about.

Take the seed, that single word God spoke to you.

Treasure and trust and protect it.

Doubt your doubts.

The seeds of God’s Word that have been planted in you, have the power to allow you to watch the mountain break apart into a million pieces as the tree grows, bigger, stronger….its strength and steady growth breaks through and becomes life, fruit-bearing, shade producing refuge for another.

For the simple purpose of others being able to taste and see that He is good.

It’s so important to share the words God gives you for someone else.

You don’t ever know how profound that word could be to them in their heart. You don’t know how much baggage that one word or phrase could break off of their life in an instant by the Holy Spirit’s power.

Share what you feel led.

You’re planting mustard seeds of faith in someone’s heart that is literally breaking up the mountain of deception that’s been used to hold them down.

Love them more than you love yourself, your image, your reputation.

Let God use you to help set them free.

**I love this image I found. It’s not mine, but I keep it on my phone to remind myself of the power of God’s word as seed.**
